Great Western
The Great
Western Railway of Colorado runs on nearly eighty miles of
railroad track in Colorado. Great Western makes connections
with the Union Pacific Railroad and the Burlington Northern
Santa Fe Railroad. It is an OmniTRAX of Denver subsidiary.
Great Western Railway was established in 1901 to make
deliveries for and to keep the Great Western Sugar Company
and other “sweet” companies in supplies. The Castle
Corporation owned the railway until June 1986. Great
Western also provided service for passengers for nine years
until 1926. It operates out of the Fort Collins North
Railroad Yard and includes tracks to the Anheuser Busch
Brewery.
